LUXURY ARCHITECTURE AT A PRIZED ADDRESS

Unmatched extravagance – outside and inside – is the defining feature of The Muse apartment complex, located on Melbourne’s coveted St Kilda Road.

A collaboration between Bruce Henderson Architects and Bruce Henderson Interiors, the 14-storey building is comprised of just 42 residences, crowned by a $45 million double-storey deluxe penthouse.

Luxury architecture inspired by the Golden Age

Each apartment was crafted as though it was an individual home, with bespoke, handcrafted fittings referencing a luxurious past, present and future. To create truly luxury architecture, we sought architectural inspiration from New York City and the jazz-age 1920s and 1930s, and the art of coach building for such luxury design cars as those by Delage, Delahaye, Packard, Duesenberg and others.

Designing for an identified market of high net-worth individuals meant security, convenience, privacy and personalisation were given the utmost consideration. The building features a round-the-clock concierge service, number plate recognition technology to the garages and porte-cochere, and a residents-only entry on Toorak Road West.

Graceful curves and classic circles

The journey of inspiration led to the realisation of a feminine form for the architecture at The Muse, which is defined by lightness and transparency, and graceful curves and classic circles.

The exterior shape of the building drapes like a veil and elegantly cascades from top to bottom. Circular motifs are found in a large scale on the floorplans and within the Paul Bangay landscaping concept.

Circles are also evident throughout the architecture and interiors including circular swimming pools, curved island benches in the kitchens and round baths in the ensuites.

With the elegant, feminine shape framing our design concept for both apartments and public areas, curved glass corners are distinct from facetted glass, while carefully placed pleats mimic the folded planes of a veil. This adds an element of drama and acts as contemporary bay windows for unobstructed views of the surrounding greenery.

From the various local and international stone to natural timbers, metals, leather and fabrics, each material used on the project has been chosen for its singular beauty and to appeal to the senses.
