The aviation connection

A DISTINCTIVE GATEWAY TO A BUSY NEW PRECINCT

The Hyatt Place Hotel and Australian Events Centre is making a statement as both the gateway to Essendon Fields and the first hotel of its brand in Australia.

Looking to the skies

Essendon Fields has been developed around a functioning airport. The design of the 166-room tower is an overt nod to the aviation connections.

The gold-clad north and south wings of the hotel are attached to a robust spine, while stainless steel panels celebrate historical aircraft manufacture. This design inspiration continues across the design of the internal spaces.

Thoughtful design for the hotel interior

The luxurious hotel interior signals a high level of comfort for guests, from arrival in the lobby where Italian natural stone flooring, decorative screens and flowing drapes are the star.

The restaurant and bar areas – with an open kitchen and a freestanding central bar – are finished with subtle timber finishes and natural timber grained concrete columns.

Decorative zinc panelled walls and doors and natural Italian stone floors are illuminated by feature light fittings and a stunning fireplace.

A centre for special events

The Australian Events Centre will seat up to 1200 guests in four separate or combined rooms.

The atrium room will feature a retractable roof. The rooms, with deliberately high ceilings, are divided with undulating meshed panels and the walls are draped with full height curtains. Dramatic entrance doors will lead from the timber panelled pre-function area.

The external architecture of the centre focuses on zinc panels, velvet render and a granite water feature entry experience within a lush garden setting.
