A NEW MELBOURNE HOME FOR A WORLD-CLASS BRAND

The Hyatt Place Hotel and Australian Events Centre is the first hotel of its brand in Australia, and a gateway to the evolving Essendon Fields precinct.

The 166-room tower pays homage to the aviation history of the site with gold clad north and south wings delicately attached to a robust spine. The stainless steel and lapped panels reflect the delicate construction techniques of historical aircraft manufacturing, while the shrouds of gold aluminium panels allow a constant display of changing colour, glowing and reflecting the changing light throughout the day.

Hotel architecture designed for luxury

The hotel lobby has been designed to enable guests to experience a high level of comfort, convenience and luxury. High-quality Italian natural stone flooring, dark stained decorative screens, flowing drapes and premium fittings and fixtures have been selected to reflect the status of the Hyatt brand.

Hotel guests will be able to enjoy a sophisticated restaurant and bar, finished with subtle timber finishes and structures, natural timber grained concrete columns, decorative zinc panelled walls and doors, natural Italian stone floor finishes, complementary light fittings and a feature fireplace. Embracing Melbourne’s culinary culture, the restaurant features the backdrop of an open kitchen, while the bar features a freestanding signature open centre bar.

A destination events centre

Part of the hotel architecture includes the design of a new Australian Events Centre, which will seat up to 1200 guests in four separate or combined rooms. A key feature is the atrium’s retractable room roof.

The room ceilings are high and divided with decorative undulating meshed panels, while the walls are draped with flowing full height curtains. Large entrance doors lead to a timber-panelled pre-function area.

The external architectural treatment features zinc panels to the walls with velvet finished render to the external surfaced. A granite water feature completes this impressive setting, highlighting the entry in a lush garden setting.
