Making a statement on a prominent corner
A GATEWAY ADDRESS
Centrepiece Residences is positioned at the eastern gateway to Bentleigh East shopping strip, designed for a mix of contemporary residences and commercial spaces in one of Melbourne’s rapidly evolving neighbourhoods.
A key feature of this project was the integration of six-level tower and a three-level building spanning two planning zones. As this development is located within both a commercial zone and a general residential zone, two sets of separate apartment development criteria needed to be addressed.
An innovative apartment development
The built form concept places the largest building on the corner of East Boundary and Centre roads, as this is the commercial zoned land. This position also frames the gateway entrance to the shopping precinct from the eastern approach.
The remainder of the site, to the north along East Boundary Road and to the east along Centre Road, is low-level and provides a natural transition to the adjacent residential precincts.
Multiple scales, one address
The tower building design expresses a bold and unique architectural sculptural metallic form, while the lower building wings are expressed in a more fine grain scale which reflects the surrounding residential streetscapes.



In terms of its materiality, the tower building is robust, while the wings consist of render, timber and metal accents. These elements create a feeling of a more modest scale.
