Old meets new
A SCULPTURAL ADDRESS
Ascent cleverly integrates an existing heritageĀ āManseā mansionĀ on Barkly Street with a new apartment tower fronting St Kilda Road.Ā
At the ground floor, the active frontage comprises a retail tenancy and a large glazed lobby. A highly recessed resident terrace and lounge to the north-west continues this activation, opening up views to the proposed glazed rear entrance of the mansion, as well as towards Barkly Street and beyond.
Contemporary form inspired by the past
The strong vertical form of the tower design is informed by the tripartite arrangement of the mansion when seen from Barkly Street.
This arrangement is also present in the tower plan and faƧade design, and is further accentuated by the sculptural layer and balcony treatment which begins at the base of the building and carries through the feature art within.
Modern apartments with integrated design
As well as around 80 one and two-bedroom modern apartments, the tower provides a wealth of amenity for residents across its 15 levels.
Communal spaces include the residential lobby, a residentsā lounge and a courtyard with views over the heritage-listed mansion.
Residents also benefit from three basement levels of car parking, with two dedicated car share spaces, bicycle parking and storage for each of the apartments.
