A tower reborn
REPURPOSING AN OFFICE TOWER FOR CBD APARTMENTS
The William involves the repurposing of a neglected 1966 Postmaster-General’s Department office building into a vibrant apartment complex in the heart of Melbourne’s legal precinct.
The transformation includes a new façade (incorporating an additional winter garden element and an expressive sculptural façade fronting Little Bourke Street) and updated building services. The William has been designed to accommodate 531 apartments, including 87 serviced apartments.
Sustainability design measures
Significant environmental initiatives have been included in the repurposing, such as photovoltaic cells that will generate power back into the grid, and rainwater harvesting. The building is expected to achieve an impressive 7-star energy rating.
A transformation through amazing architecture
Due to the existing building structure, all apartments will benefit from generous ceiling heights. Apartments will also include a terrace or a winter garden.

The amazing architecture extends to additional amenities considered for the comfort of residents. These include generous retail areas at the ground floor and a heated outdoor swimming pool located on one of the upper roof deck levels.
In every way, these residences provide a rare level of luxury and sanctuary above the bustle of Melbourne’s CBD.
