168 LONSDALE ST

A symbolic tower in the heart of Melbourne’s Hellenic precinct, 168 Lonsdale Street uses contemporary architecture to tell the story of Greek Australia.

The tower is split into two separate vertical strata to reduce the visual mass into more moderated slender forms that capture interest through the use of blue and white glass in the external shade panels. This colouration abstractly reflects the colours of the Greek flag and presents an iconic image of the classic ‘Discobolus’ (Discus Thrower).

Fronting both Russell and Lonsdale streets, the building also features eight levels of commercial office space, a street level retail space, and a rooftop bar. Since its construction in 2013, 168 Lonsdale Street has become an iconic component of Melbourne’s streetscape and a focal point for the Greek community.
